Zlatko Piskulich, MD, a board-certified ophthalmologist, specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of medical diseases of the macula, retina, and vitreous. Areas of expertise include age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, inherited retinal dystrophies, and diseases of the peripheral retina and vitreous. He is experienced in all forms of retinal laser surgery including photodynamic therapy, laser photocoagulation, and intravitreal injections. Zlatko is involved in a variety of research activities, including clinical trials for diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. He is involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows.
In his clinical practice, Zlatko also specializes in laser refractive surgery, including LASIK, LASEK/Advanced Surface Ablation, PRK, PTK, and cataract surgery. He is a highly skilled cataract and refractive surgeon and has successfully treated many complex cases referred by other surgeons. Dr. Piskulich is a member of the Costa Rican Association of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), of the American Association of Retina Specialists (ASRS), Central American Association of Retina and Vitreous, among others important medical associations.
